Above Ground Filter Problem..Keeps Turning On & Off

by Brenda

I have just recently installed an above ground pool. When I backwash, the pump will only pump for approximately 1 minute then turn off wait a few seconds and pump a few seconds then turn off . . . and continue this way.

Can you tell me what to look for?

Thanks for the question Brenda

This sounds like it could be an electrical problem.

The pool motor may be wired to the wrong voltage. Most inground pool pumps can be either 115 or 230v.

You need to turn off the pump motor and have an electrician check the problem and correct it.

If you are not familar with handling pool pump wiring, you need to get a qualified electrician.

I can't tell you how to fix the problem because this is one area of pools that I don't handle.

Electricity and me aren't friends and it has let me know that about 5 times already (220v each time).

Hope this helps and good luck with your pool.

Robert
