Changing Water In Our Pool
by Justine
I don't like to use chemicals since I've got toddlers. How often would you recommend to change non treated pool water? Currently, I'm changing in weekly basis. Is this safe? Thanks for the question Justine
Changing the water in a non-treated play pool needs to be done 1 - 2 times per week. This is the average, but there are exceptions. The big one is heat.
If you live in an area that experiences high heat for long periods, then changing the water more often would be a good idea. This is because of the algae issue. Algae loves warm water and with no chemicals it can get out of hand very quickly.
If you can, try to keep the pool shaded as best you can. Don't put a cover on it, just shade. This will help keep the pool a bit cooler.
If you're changing the water once per week and don't see any algae during the week, you're probably doing fine. Remember to clean it very well each time you refill. A little bit of Clorox and water is safe.
Algae can still be present in any area of the pool and you'll want to hit it before it has a chance to reproduce when you refill the pool.
Hope this helps and have a great rest of the Summer.
