GPH Too Low & My Well Water Is Yellow
If the water is not being moved @ say 1500 gph, can that be part of the problem? And can I put an algaecide in it with the salt pump on? I also have well water. Our water is yellow anyway.I've been fighting this for @ least a month now and it s getting expensive. Please help. (DROWNING HELP) Thanks for the question Stacey
A normal pool pump motor should move your water between 40 - 60 GPM. That equals 2400 - 3600 GPH. I'm not sure what is meant by "part of the problem".
The questions says that the well water is already yellow and you're trying to get rid of that. I'm wondering if that's what you mean.
The water is yellow and you've tried to correct that, but with the water flow so low it's not working?
If that's what I'm reading, it could be part of the problem. There could be a few reasons why the water flow is so low.
Wrong sized motor
Bad impeller
Clogged filter
Clogged lines somewhere
Many times well water has lots of impurities, namely copper and iron. You can use a good metal sequestrant to try to get rid of the heavy metals already in your well water.
You can have your iron level tested at a local pool store. More than likely the iron is low if you never had an issue with staining.
Metal sequestrants that are based on HEDP, phosphonic acid and/or its derivatives are the most effective.
Some popular brands are Jack's Magic Blue, Purple, and Pink Pink Stuff, Metal Magic, Metal Free, & Metal Klear.
Be sure any algaecides you use don't have any metals or copper in them.
