If the pump is going to be used alot, you'll want to get one that has a good GPH rating. They can range from 900 - 1800 GPH. 2. If the pump is automatic or manual. With an auto one, it senses when to turn on and off. With a manual one, you decide when to turn it on and off. 3. Power cord length. This might not be an issue because you can get an extension cord. 4. Price. They can range from around $60 to $160 and more. Obviously the more expensive kinds will be automatic. 5. Consumer reviews. You can go through a good selection at Amazon, which has pretty much everything you need. Buy A Great Pool Cover Pump Through Amazon Little Giant and Rule make very good pool cover pumps.
