How Long Do You Need To Wait To Swim After Adding pH Minus..Acid

by Larry
(Washington DC)

I added some pH minus, I think it's called muriatic acid, to lower my swimming pool pH level.

I was wondering how long should I wait before I let my family go swimming after adding a pH minus or pool acid.

Good question Larry

I would suggest a good 2 hour wait before you go swimming again. This will allow the muriatic acid to do it's job.

Your swimming pool might increase in pH naturally as more people swim in it. This water movement and splashing around is called aeration and is used as one method of raising a pool's pH level.

Some might say you can go swimming within 15 - 20 minutes after adding any chemicals, but it's better to stay safe. A 2 hour wait is fine after adding any pool chemicals.
