How Much Does Each Gallon Of Liquid Chlorine Raise The Chlorine Level?

by Lori

How much does each gallon of liquid chlorine raise the chlorine level?

If you need to know, our pool is about 26,500 gal., or you could round to 28000.

Thanks

Thanks for the question Lori

When this kind of question is asked, normally it goes by 10,000 gallon increments.

To raise the chlorine level up 10Xs per 10,000 gallons you would need 3.25 qts. of liquid chlorine. For a 12,000 gallon pool, 1.25 gallons.

If you're starting at zero for a 26,000 - 28,000 gallon pool, and want to bring the chlorine level up to an acceptable level, you would use 1 gallon.

This will bring the level up to approximately 2.5 - 3ppm.

4 gallons will shock the pool.

Swimming Pool Chlorine

Sodium Hypochlorite/Liquid Chlorine

Remember to keep your CYA/stabilizer between 30 - 50ppm. You can find this in Dichlor granules and Trichlor chlorine tabs.

There's also lots of good information on the pool Q&A section about chlorine.
