I Still Have A Cloudy Pool After Opening

by GINA JOHNSON
(Millington, TN)

We just used a opening starter kit to open the pool and it looks good other than it is cloudy.

All levels are normal but the free chlorine level is reading 0-low.

What do I need to do? Shock it again ?

It is a 25,000 gallon in ground pool.

Thanks

Gina

Thanks for the question Gina

It's good that the other levels are normal, so now you need to get some chlorine in the pool, and keep it there.

Here are some good posts for you to look at:

No Total Or Free Chlorine And Pool Can't Hold Cyanuric Acid (CYA)

Having Difficulty With No Free Chorine..

Tri-Chlor Pool Tablets & Pool Shock

You need to shock with Dichlor. This is a fast acting chlorine with a stabilizer (cyanuric acid/CYA) in it.

Be careful when using Dichlor because your CYA can get out of hand quickly.

For every 10ppm of chlorine used with Dichlor, it raises the CYA 9ppm.

You may need to manually dose your pool daily with liquid chlorine until the level stabilizes.

Keep testing and filtering.

Shock in the evening and check the chlorine level in the morning.

The posts above have all of the information you need to get your chlorine level in line,

Hope this helps and have a fun and safe swimming season.
