Kind Of Swimming Pool Chlorine To Use

by Mike
(South Carolina)

I have a question about swimming pool chlorine.

I know there's a couple different ones out there but which one is the best to use, the liquid or granules?

Which one does a better job?

Thanks for your questions Mike

I actually prefer Calcium Hypochlorite (granular pool chlorine) over liquid chlorine for a few reasons:

1. It's safer
2. Lighter
3. Easier to store
4. Easier to apply

Swimming Pool Calcium Hypochlorite

Swimming Pool Sodium Hypochlorite

If you live in a part of the country that has high hardness fill water you might be better off using liquid chlorine as the granular pool chlorine does contain calcium which may increase your pool water hardness.

As to which one is better; I think both kinds of swimming pool chlorine will do a great job sanitizing your pool.

For ease and convenience I always go for Calcium Hypochlorite.

Hope this helps

Robert
