Meteor Sand Filter Leaking Filter Hose

by Bonnie
(Boycevillie, WI. Dunn)

I have bought two Hi Flow 6 way valves.

Water is still coming out the filter hose. The pool store can't figure it out.

Thought maybe first one was bad so store exchanged
for a new one but I still have same problem.

I have sand in filter we bought this new last summer.

There is also a drip where air bleeder is.

I replaced the whole unit on the valve.

Please help...

Thanks for the question and the picture Bonnie

Any leak depends on where it’s coming from.

If the leak is coming from a filter hose, it could be a small hole or puncture.

In this case you should replace the hose.

If the leak is near a clamp, you can tighten the clamp.

There are some average hoses and those that are better better quality from companies such as Hayward.

Many hoses resemble the hoses from a Shop Vac.

You can also try two hose clamps placed in opposite directions. This usually works.

You can also look into rubber fernco connectors. These are very good at stopping leaks.

You will need pretty stiff hosing for ferncos.

For your air bleeder valve you can turn off the system and remove the valve.

There might be a small O-ring/gasket around the end. It's about the size of your pinky.

You can replace that or even double up on the gasket.

Gently put some white plumbers tape around the threads as well.

I had to do this to the YMCA sand filter to keep it from leaking.

Thank you for the reply. WOW.

Got up early this moring check the hoses. I had hoses hook up wrong.

I didn't know they were written on the valve.

First time I had to deal with this. More than likely was the problem in the frist place.

Expensive mistake.

The person that maintain pool is now deceased.

Great job in finding the problem. The filter is hopefully running properly now and that's all that matters.
