Pool Water Testing Kit

I would like to know what water tests I should perform to ensure the water is safe to swim in? Do you have a kit that you recommend?

The pool water testing kit I and most pool professionals use, not to mention most state's Board of Health, is the Taylor Reagent FAS-DPD K-2005 or 2006 test kit.
