Pressure Builds Up In 30 minutes And DE Flowing Back Into The Pool

I have tried everything?

Problem - pressure builds up from 20 to 30 psi in about an hour - even after cleaning it.

Also, DE seems to flow back into the pool - filter is fine checked it and all O-rings are good too.

Even the Multivalve O-ring has been replaced.

Thoughts?

Niels

Thanks for the question

First I would want to give your some very similar posts that I've answered:

How To Clean The DE Filter Grids With Oil & Residue

DE Filter Problem..DE Coming Back Into The Pool..

WHY AM I GETTING DE BACK IN THE POOL?

There's alot of troubleshooting and good information on those pages.

Is the water dirty or in the middle of an algae bloom? This will clog up a DE filter quickly, but it's normal.

A DE filter will catch alot of debris.

When you turn the filter off, DE will fall to the bottom of the filter, off the grids, and some dirt will stay on the bottom of the filter.

The pressure won't rise instantly. It migh be that the filter is dirty and needs to be cleaned.

The pressure will also rise quickly if you put too much DE in the skimmer or if you don't make a slurry out of it.

When you shovel DE in the skimmer, it may not have a chance to coat the entire grid and you'll get uneven coating or chunks on the grids.

Don't bump or backwash, and don't run the pump for a couple of hours. Drain the filter and open it up.

You'll probably see a pretty thick coat of DE on the grids and a couple of inches of DE in the bottom of the filter.

DE Pool Filters

Using this, along with the posts above, should solve your high DE filter pressure.

Have a safe and fun swimming season.
