Pressure Gauge Noise On Cartridge Filter Unit
When taking cartridge filter out to clean and replacing and filling with water and opening valve to let excess air out and then turning pump on, the pressure gauge rattles and makes a very loud vibration.
Does not make noise every time, but most times.
I have taken filter in and out 3-5 times and putting it back in and still the loud pressure gauge noise.
I have even purchased a new gauge and installed and still having the noise issue.
The filter is less than 2 years old and in great shape.
Thanks for the question
I'm wondering if it's actually the water pressure in the filter and not necessarily the gauge itself.
This can happen when you have a suction side leak.
But let's say everything checks out alright and it is the gauge.
On thing is to check the end for a small O-ring. It's about the size of the end of your pinky finger.
If it's missing, you can replace it.
Also, try some white plumbing tape around the threads.
Be sure you just snug the gauge, don't make it too tight.
Check around the hole that the gauge fits into for cracks. It may not be evenly seated.
Did this happen last year? If it didn't, you can ask yourself if there's anything different you've done this year as opposed to last year.
Unfortunately, if the filter is cracked or broken, there's really no easy fix.
