Question about swimming pool diving board issue and problem...
Where do I start~~I recently acquired to duty of "pool woman". Our small town has a community pool averaging 30ish people a day.
Unfortunately our swimming pool diving board broke I have been put in charge of ordering a new one. This I know~~ it needs to be 10ft and that's about all I know!
I need a heavy duty, diving board to withstand the chore of "healthy & rowdy" boys.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Anything is appreciated!
Thanks for your question Vicky
I was at the YMCA today and talked to the Aquatics Director about your diving board issue. She said the most important thing to consider is the safety factor.

Be sure you check with the state Department of Health the see the kind and size of diving board you need. Different states have different laws regarding diving boards, for swimming safety and insurance reasons.
Get all the information you can from them before looking for a new diving board. By doing this you can lessen the amount of time it will take getting a new diving board because you'll know what the law allows.
I would also recommend checking with your local laws, being it's a community pool. Find out the insurance requirements.
Through my experience I've had good feedback from people who have owned a Fibre-Dive. They have them in all sizes.
The Aquatics Director also recommended a stiffer kind of diving board for semi-commercial use. She said they seem to be a bit on the sturdy side and you may want to get one without alot of spring.
She also said you may want to look into what is called a "jump board".
Hope this helps and good luck finding the perfect swimming pool diving board for your community pool.

Swimming Pool Diving Board...Go With What You Have
by: Bill Pike
This may be a dumb comment, but I have always started at the beginning.
Look at the old board, it should have some information on it, look back at any records you have, and lastly talk to the pool company that originally built the pool, they probably installed the board and should have records of what was used.
Comment...
Thanks for the comment Bill
That topic came up when I talked to the Aquatics Director. While I can understand your point in getting the same kind of swimming pool diving board, some things need to be considered.
Federal, state, and local laws change from time to time. Commercial and community swimming pools need to be up-to-date on these changes.
Case in point: Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act which required all commercial pools to be fitted with new anti-entrapment bottom pool drains by December 2008.
The same swimming pool drains that were sold for years are now obsolete. Commercial pools found without these new anti-entrapment drains can be shut down until these new drains are installed.
The question contained the comment of being put in charge of getting a new swimming pool diving board. It had to be 10ft. long and that's all she knew. If she is going to be a pool operator, even partial in her duties, then it's her responsibility to know, or know where to get access, to the federal, state, and local safety laws concerning a new swimming pool diving board.
If she purchased and installed a diving board that simply fit and the insurance agency or state official came to inspect the pool and found the wrong board, the pool would probably be closed down until a new pool diving board was purchased and installed. It needs to be up to code for safety reasons.
Then Vicky would have to make an appointment to have the new diving board inspected before the pool could be opened again. Who knows how long that would take for both the insurance and state agency to come out there to give it their o.k.?
So while simply getting the same swimming pool diving board might work, I wanted Vicky to be able to cover all her bases.
