Swimming Pool Red Algae Problem

My pool water is clear, but I found red algae on ladder steps and 5-6 blotches on deep end floor. Shoud I raise ppm 10X ?

I would appreciate any input.

Thanks

Thank you for your question

If you have a red algae problem the best way to handle it is to raise your chlorine level up to 10Xs the normal level. This link will give you the best way to handle it:

Red Algae

This chlorine page has a chart for super-chlorination:

Remember to keep your chlorine level between 1.5ppm - 3.5ppm and check the cyanuric acid level. It should be between 20ppm - 40ppm.

Get a Taylor Reagent FAS-DPD K-2006 pool water test kit. It takes a little getting used to but it's the most accurate kit.

Hope this helps and have a great rest of the Summer

CHEMISTRY HAS BEEN GOOD ALL SEASON...WHAT CAUSED THE RED STUFF?

WE WILL BE CLOSING THE POOL NEXT WEEK FOR THE SEASON.....WILL THE COLD WINTER DESTROY THE BACTERIA OR MUST WE TREAT IT BEFORE WE CLOSE ?

THANKS
