Question of white powder on the walls of the pool.
Used strips to test pool water. Everything seems to be alright.
While brushing the sides of the pool, I noticed white powder coming off walls. I felt it with my hands and rubbed the walls until smooth.
What could this possible be?
Thanks for your question
Without seeing your pool and having a little more info. I am limited as to a detailed answer on the white powder on the walls of your pool, but I will give you some trouble-shooting tips.
1. I would encourage you to get a FAS-DPD Reagent K-2005 or 2006 test kit. This takes some getting used to but it's worth the time invested.
2. If you have a DE filter you might want to check the grids for tears and/or rips. This might be allowing DE back into the pool and settling on the floor and walls.
4. You can also check the phosphate level with an inexpensive test kit (about $12) from your local pool store.
Algae need nitrates and phosphates to grow. Unless your phosphate level is extremely high, 2000 or greater, your chlorine should do the trick in keeping the algae away.
