Whole Bottle Of pH Plus And Level Won't Increase...pH Problem..
I have put a whole bottle of pH plus and it still has not increased at all. I do not know what to do. It is still in the lowest color. Do I add more pH plus or does it need more time to run? It has been four hours since I put the pH plus in. Also, can you add too much at one time? If you can, what does it do? Thanks for the question
First I would ask:
At what level was the pH?
What is it now?
What range are you trying to get to?
How much pH plus have you put in? Was it a quart, 1/2 gallon, gallon?
How big is your pool (how many gallons)?
These really need to be addressed for myself and others who may be having this problem.
Let's say your pH was 6.5 and you're trying to get to 7.6ppm. You have a 50,000 gallon pool and you put in a quart of pH plus, then the pH level probably won't increase very much.
I would need answers to the above questions before I can give you the information you need.
To answer your last question; yes you can put in too much pH plus, or any chemical for that matter.
If you add too much at one time, your pH level will probably go through the roof. You'll then need to use muriatic acid to bring the level back down.
And ALWAYS, regardless of what anyone says, ALWAYS wait for 1 full turnover of the pool water before making any additional adjustments.
After the water has had a chance to fully circulate should you retest. This is normally around 8 - 10 hours, and this is where most people become impatient.
When making chemical adjustments to your pool, it's best to make them in the evening, turn the pump on and allow to circulate all night, then retest.
If you can come back with the above information, I'm sure I can help.
