Why Do I Vacuum Swimming Pool To Waste...The Spa Water Is Running?

The both control systems are in same small room. I don't use the spa at the moment so I turned off all the spa controls and shut off all spa valves in the pipes. But when I do the swimming pool vacuum to waste, I feel like the spa pool pipes are flowing huge amounts of water. When I stop the vacuum and filter, turned off the power, the water is still running and swimming pool water goes from skimmer to drain very fast. Swimming water level drops down fast and spa water is still. I move the valve which is located between spa cartridge filter and drain pipe or the pipe which water goes through back to spa then the water stop running. I really don't know each system is independent why the situation happened, and I don't know how to resolve it. Can you please help me to give me your advice. Thanks a lot! Thanks for your question Lin I hope I'm reading your question correctly, and if not, you can write back, but what I think you're saying is when you vacuum to the WASTE cycle the pool and spa water level drops. When you vacuum to WASTE the pool water is not going through the filter then back into the pool through the returns, it's going straight into the sewer, so this would cause the water level to drop. Another possible reason that the spa is losing water, from what I can gather from your question, is the spa water draining back into the pool while you're vacuuming. There could be two possibilities: 1. Either a valve is leaking and that allows spa water back into the pool. The seals in the valves probably need replacing. OR 2. The spa has a leak. The valves are normally pretty easy to check, so look there first. If the spa is leaking and you're constantly filling it from the pool, you should see a drop in the pool water level beyond normal evaporation. If you're getting the spa draining while in "spa", something might not be right. I would check not only the actuator, if applicable, but the valve itself to make sure the valve stem hasn't broken.
