Winterization Of A Commercial Pool

I am an employee of a local pool and tennis club. The club has a 176,000 gallon commercial pool. We do not have the money to hire a company to winterize it this year, so we are attempting to do it ourselves.

There are many skimmers and a very large main drain at the bottom of a ten-foot deep end. Could you give me some sort of step-by-step?

Is this even possible for someone besides a pool company? We have a DE filter system.

Please get back to me.

Thanks.

Thanks for the question

It looks like you've already been on the pool closing page:

Pool Winterization

This page, along with the videos, gives a step-by-step guide on how to close your swimming pool for the Winter.

I do say this on the page:

"If you're the least bit unsure of what to do or are not experienced in swimming pool closing or how to winterize a swimming pool, I highly recommend hiring a swimming pool professional."

It's not too difficult, but it needs to be done correctly.

One of the issues with your pool, I would say, is properly blowing out the lines. This needs to be done in order to keep the lines from freezing. I will assume your pool is outside being that you're asking about how to winterize the pool.

Many times people opt to use a non toxic anti-freeze for the lines. While this is certainly a way to go, when it comes time to open the pool in Spring, you'll open the lines again and all of the anti-freeze goes into the pool.

Again, I would encourage you to go to the page above, follow the directions and watch the videos. Anything I say here would be repeating myself on the page above.

Hope this helps and good luck with your pool.

Robert
