Cloudy Green Water
by: Mark Harrington (Farmington mo)

They tell me alkalinity out of balance. The water is green and cloudy. They had me add muratic acid and pH stabilizer, then turn off salt water chlorinater. It was at 8+ clorine...

Added 3lbs. of balancer last night and 1/2 gal muratic acid the 1/2 gal.

Muratic acid this a.m. and bring sample in again Saturday a.m. It's been cloudy green for days. I've added added algaside, shock, and had the generator turned to 100%. Shock and muriatic acid, two gallons.

Before, this was three days ago plus I vacuumed the pool twice nothing seems to matter. The pool was covered but rain water still got in.

It's been cloudy green for week now. Filter and pump has been backflushed 2 to 3 times a day.

Please help

Thank you

Pool Algae Problem
by: Jim

I kick up visible green algae every day from my 24' round pool. my water tests say my ph is fine and there is plenty of chlorine.

I've added multiple dosages of algaecide & clarifier, I've vacuumed up algae from the bottom and backwashed frequently, but what comes out isn'nt as green as I think it should be.

I kinda think the algae is just going right back in the pool. I have a Hayward sand filter but it has been over 5 years since i have changed the sand. Do you think changing the sand could solve my problem?
