Deep Green Pool
by: Calvin

I have a nasty deep green pool which has stained the liner. I want to get it going and I am sure you could guide me through the process, but I wonderd if the liner needs replacement before I invest in the water cleaning process.

Thanks for the question Calvin. I noticed you subscribed to my channel and left a question on my site. Hopefully you've watched the videos on how I cleared up some pools. The first thing I do is to take all the chemical readings. These tell me the course of action to take. Pools go green for different reasons and the chemical readings can tell us how to handle it.

I'd like to have your complete chemical readings, the actual numbers:

Chlorine, CYA (cyanuric acid/stabilizer), pH, Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness, and Metals (iron and copper) and names of any algaecides you may have used along with clarifiers, phosphate removers, and/or flocs. It makes troubleshooting much easier and the process of clearing up your pool will go much faster. Green water is a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself. We need to find the cause.

I also need the kind of filter you have and if it's working properly. If it's not working it must be fixed in order to clear up the pool. Get back to me with the chemical numbers and I'm sure I can help.

Green Pool Problem
by: Daphne

Our pool 16000 gallon pool and it started out dark green we wen to pinnch a penny and they told us to put chlorine tablets and 2 gallons of chlorine then brush the bottom and sides wait an hour then put the alagecide wait then put some liquid acid then they told us to wait a week to put the calcium hardness in a week we've put stablizer in so we've did this three times when we went in there the other day they told us to put some clarify they told us to put half the bottle well our was still cloudy the cloudyness is gone but our pool water is till noy blue i need to know what we have to we were never told we had to drawn it which we didn't. our levels are Total Chlorine is 10 ppm Free Chlorine is 5 ppm Total Alkanline level is 40 our ph is 7.2 total hardness level is 100 please help me get our levels right and pool green we've been woring on this for two weeks going on three and my water still not blue

Thanks for the question. I need to know the kind of filter your have and the CYA/stabilizer level. That level will determine the course of action to take. I have the other readings and they're easily fixable. I also need to know the kind of pool you have. If it's vinyl then don't worry about the CH. If it's plaster then just a little bit of calcium chloride will raise it to 150 ppm which is where it should be.

Get back to me with that info. and we can go from there.
