Socks for Skimmer baskets..

by Christie
(LaGrange Georgia USA)

I found socks for my skimmer baskets at a online site that have saved me more time in my day to day care of the pool. They help prevent items from slipping through the skimmer baskets into your swimming pool filter sand.

We found them just as the pollen started falling and you would not believe the amount of pollen it kept out of my pool. At a cost of $10.00 for 5 it was well worth it..as they are washable and reusable.

You just keep using them till they start getting holes in them and then you replace them.

I've loved not having to backwash half as much as before and having to constantly add water to the pool then adjust swimming pool chemicals.

Fantastic comment Christie

I know exactly what you're talking about. Here in Oregon we have alot of trees around the houses. Socks or mesh liners for a swimming pool skimmer really helps in keeping the debris from getting into the pool lines and clogging up the pool pump motor.

I cleared out swimming pool algae for a customer last year and he had a couple of those in his skimmers. It was the first time I'd ever seen anything like that. All the pools I did in Arizona never had any kind of liners in the skimmer because there was mostly dirt and other debris, but not a whole lot of leaves.

Thanks again and let me know of other good things that happen with your swimming pool this Summer.

All the best

Robert

Skimmer Sock

I have tried skimmer socks before, and they didn't work for me. They impeded the flow of water, causing the pump to work harder; the resulting increased suction took the bottom right out of my skimmer basket!

It may have been an old, weak basket, but it was still disconcerting. Now that I have replaced the pumps and filter, I guess I'll give them another try.
